August 2017 Income Report

This post may contain affiliate links.

As I mentioned in my July income report, I was apprehensive about sharing my income reports publicly. But since part of my goal for this blog, Experimental Cents, was to explain how I make extra cents from my experiments, I figured it was relevant to show you what and how I make income online. Not only will it provide me with a baseline to always strive to achieve, but I hope my regular income reports will inspire you!

I’m really excited about adding a few more affiliates and one more advertiser to my lineup of online income. I also tweaked my marketing strategies, added a completely affiliate webpage, and began promoting my old and newly published eBooks!

Adsense: $165.92

Chitika$43.98

Amazon Associates: $247.23

Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing: $697.02

 Shareasale$21.50

Bluehost: $65.00

Grand total: $1140.65

Here is a breakdown of my earnings from each of these revenue sources. I’ll reflect on why I believe I was successful with each source and what goals and improvements I’ll look towards for next month.

Adsense: $165.92

I have been using Adsense since I started this blog. It took a couple of weeks until they finally approved the site (they only allow ads on sites they review and approve). All in all, I took a large leap in Adsense income since last month. I also increased site views to 34,000 and I changed my ad locations. This seems to have made all the difference and increased my earnings a little over $100 since last month!

*I found that placing ads directly into my blog content has earned more income than placing ads anywhere else on this blog!

Chitika$43.98

Chitika is an awesome (and not as well-known) advertising site that can be used along with Adsense! Yes, you can display chitika and Adsense simultaneously, on the same site! This just doubles your chances of earning income and increases your site monitization. What do you have to lose? I also discovered that Chitika isn’t as picky as Adsense and will probably approve you a lot quicker.

Amazon Associates: $247.23

I almost feel like screaming out into the blogger world that AMAZON ASSOCIATES IS THE EASIEST WAY TO EARN MONEY ONLINE! Did I say that loud enough?! Not only does Amazon pay you royalties from products readers buy from the links on your site–They ALSO pay you for anything that reader buys on Amazon.com 24 hours AFTER they clicked on your link… Even if the item they buy is NOT the item you advertised! I include a few amazon links into my blog posts and just leave them there. Eventually, someone will click on one. If they purchase ANYTHING from Amazon.com in the next 24 hours, I will earn a small portion of that sale. It’s really THAT easy. You can read a little post I wrote about Amazon Associates a while back. It really explains their affiliate program. I also increased my earnings by dropping some affiliate links on social media and using this little pinterest affiliate scheme!

*Start promoting some of Amazon’s Bounty Programs. They usually pay between $5 and $10 per referral. This is an easy way to make some amazon associate income!

Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing: $697.02

Since I have received several emails regarding my success with this online money-maker, I decided to create a page specifically for my eBook Publishing How To posts. Basically, I create eBooks from public domain content and sell them on Kindle Direct Publishing. I also write my own eBooks and self-publish them on KDP, as well. You can read all about this income method here and find my tutorial on the topic here. Since I’m running some free promotions this year, I have seen the eBook sales fluctuate a little. Although I’m up in sales here from last month, I am hoping to generate a little more next month!

*This month, I have really been promoting my eBook: Experimental Cents: Guide to Online EntrepreneurshipThis eBook discusses, in detail, my top 3 favorite ways to make income online. I think it has really resonated well with my blog readers because it has loads of useful information I haven’t put inside this blog! (I run 5 FREE PROMOTIONS of this book every 3 months. Join my email list at the top of this page to hear when the next free promo will occur!)

 Shareasale$21.50

While I didn’t make as much on shareAsale as I had originally anticipated, I blame it on being distracted with Amazon Associates! However, shareAsale is an amazing affiliate site and allows you to join several other programs once shareAsale accepts your application.

*Apply now, but if you’re rejected right away, try again in a few months after you have a more established blog.

Bluehost: $65.00

I had one totally awesome reader purchase a bluehost site through my affiliate link! I guess they read my Comprehensive Web Hosting Guide and realized how awesome bluehost really is and why I would never use any other hosting company!

—————————————————————————————————-

Are you thinking about starting a blog but just don’t feel like you’re completely ready to figure it out? Don’t hold off anymore. TRUST ME: A year from now you’ll look back at today and wish you had started blogging NOW. I’ll walk you through the steps with my FREE Tutorial that explains (in detail) how to create your own blog in 10 easy steps. Bluehost is also offering their hosting at $7.99 $3.49/month (offer only available if you use my affiliate link) You might be wondering if you could get away with a free site like Blogger.com or if you could find a free eCommerce site to use. You don’t want to do this. Using someone else’s domain is like renting a space on the internet–You don’t completely own your site or your content unless you have your own hosting company.

Think about this: When you use another host side {YourBlog.blogger.com} you aren’t able to work with affiliate companies, advertisers, and  you run the risk of having your page deleted. (I know. Scary, right?) Michelle Schroeder from Making Sense of Cents actually had her first blog deleted. The risk is real!
